Soft matter (matière molle)

Soft matter -> predominant physical behaviours occur at an energy scale comparable with room temperature thermal energy (of order of kT), and that entropy is considered the dominant factor : Polymers, Foams, Gels, Colloids, Liquid crystals, Biological membrane

Rheometer -> measure the way in which a viscous fluid flows in response to applied forces. It is used for those fluids which cannot be defined by a single value of viscosity and therefore require more parameters to be set and measured than is the case for a viscometer. It measures the deformation of the fluid.

Shear thinning -> non-Newtonian behaviour of fluids whose viscosity decreases under shear strain (relative deformation due to unaligned forces acting on separate areas of a body)
